Educere tutoring for the academic edge. Read some comments from our students and parents:

“My son worked with an Educere tutor to prepare for the ACT exam his senior year in high school. He definitely looked forward to his tutoring sessions twice a week and made great progress.”

“Educere has been great for my daughter. They are very flexible. She has a standing appointment time each week, but if she has a test, they reschedule to help her prepare for that test.”

“My son is ADD and has a hard time concentrating in the classroom because of all the noise. Educere has a quiet one-on-one setting that enables my son to feel comfortable, calm down, and listen to the tutor.”

“I have discovered a great tutoring place right in our neighborhood! The staff is helpful and highly qualified.”

What can you do to achieve success in school if your child has ADD or ADHD (Attention Deficit Disorder or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)?

Use the federal and state education laws that classify ADD and ADHD as learning disabilities and protect children with ADD and ADHD. The laws have set up the means through which families gain help for their children at school. These laws provide for legally protected meetings, which in Texas are called either 504 or ARD meetings, and where families and school staff meet to build appropriate educational plans.

Gabriella Mackin of Educere helps parents meet with schools and write appropriate plans according to the laws. Gabriella Mackin’s knowledge of education law is only surpassed by her passion to see that all children receive the proper accommodations to allow them the best opportunity for success. She herself is the parent of children with learning disabilities, two children with ADD/ADHD, and a child who is deaf and medically fragile. She helps her own and other families secure appropriate educational services from school districts.

Gabriella Mackin and Educere help with

1. Referrals to psychologists for initial/ongoing educational diagnosis.
2. Consultation with parents to discuss strategies to help the child.
3. Assistance in preparing specific goals and accommodations for the child (IEP’s or 504 plans).
4. Attending ARD or 504 meetings with the family.
5. Developing strategies to ensure the school district personnel (teachers, aides, etc) have the qualifications they are legally required to have.
6. On going one-on-one tutoring to help the student stay on top of his/her classes, and work with tutors who have experience with ADHD/ADD

  • An experienced tutor can recognize when a student with ADD/ADHD needs a short break and can allow for that at reasonable intervals, then redirect the student back to the work,
  • A one-on-one tutor modifies the curriculum, and uses the student’s own interests to make the lesson more relevant and interesting,
  • Communicates with the school and teacher to keep track of student progress and workload,
  • Assists the parents and student with monitoring a homework journal,
  • Teaches the student time management strategies,
  • Works with the student on how to break large projects into manageable parts,
  • Aids in setting intermediate deadlines,
  • Provides immediate positive encouragement and individual praise for accomplished tasks,
